CNC Machinery Sales Australia is a proud sponsor of the

Semaphore Surf Life Saving Club

There is evidence that there has been a "Beach Patrol" along the Semaphore - Largs Bay beach since 1909. This Semaphore Beach Patrol subsequently became affiliated with the Royal Life Saving Association.
In July 1953 the club formally agreed to leave the Royal Life Saving Association and join the Surf Life Saving Association. This was the beginning of the Semaphore Surf Life Saving Club (SSLSC) in its current form.
The SSLSC was given formal responsibility for the safety of swimmers (and non-swimmers!) using a stretch of beach from Escourt House (Tennyson) north to the Largs Bay jetty. Members have patrolled this area every summer for the last 50 years. In 2008 we have over 500 members including more than 200 Juniors and over 100 Life Savers who volunteer to do do regular patrols over the summer.
Today at the Semaphore Surf-Lifesaving Club we promote a friendly family atmosphere where both children and adults can enjoy the sporting and social rewards of the surf-lifesaving culture.

Competition:

We have Junior, Senior and Masters programs aimed at competition events that promote fun, fitness, friendship and a healthy lifestyle.

Events range a cross a variety of athletic and swimming disciplines including surf swimming, board riding, skis and boats and beach sprints.

There are events in a more core lifesaving style such as Rescue and Resuscitation, First Aid and the colourful March Past.

Individual and team events are run at Surf Carnivals from October to March.

The Senior program is age group based and consists of Under 15, 17, 19 and Open.

Beach Patrol:

Patrolling our beaches underpins all surf-lifesaving activities. All life-savers that patrol the beach have received comprehensive training in water safety and surf rescue.

This is a voluntary service that our members provide to the Community.

At Semaphore we patrol a 7 kilometre stretch of beach from our base at Point Malcolm.

Our club members patrol this area on weekends and public holidays from the beginning of November to the end of March.

Come on and give it a go!

Social Events:

If you can picture yourself looking over a setting sun on our magnificent balcony deck with a cold glass of champagne or cider, perhaps our social life might appeal to you. We hold many social events during the Surf-lifesaving season including;

·         Friday night dinners at the Club

·         Dinners after Surf Carnivals

·         Cocktail Parties and Special Dinners

·         Regular Club BBQs

·         Social and Sporting Camps
Our extensive bar facilities are always open on weekends if you just want to drop in for a quick refresher or catch up with friends.

Lifesaving Education:

Obtaining your Bronze Medallion is the required award for adult members to commence surf lifesaving patrol and competition.

Our club is committed to the surf lifesaving training and education of its members. We have many qualified instructors that can provide the required information and training to assist your participation in this important Community Service.

The Family Club:

Our family members represent the cornerstone on which Semaphore SLSC fundamentally operates. We have a number of current family members that span 3 generations.

This atmosphere strengthens family and social bonds and creates an open and friendly environment where members are made to feel welcome whether they are new to the club or have been part of our tradition for over 40 years.

We would welcome your membership enquiry for the new season. www.semaphoreslsc.com.au
